Event Director: Jeff Foster
Purpose: Worship Leadership is an event for boys or girls in grades three thru twelve. The event is offered to encourage and recognize participation by young people in the worship services and gatherings of their home church.
Process: Each participant looks for opportunities to lead various aspects of worship in their home church, including leading prayer, song leading, reading Scripture, serving and/or preparing the Lord’s Supper, preaching/teaching, assisting with multimedia, and giving the welcome/announcements. Participants in the Worship Leadership event will keep a record of their leadership opportunities and with adult verification submit this record to the LTCSW event coordinator.

Worship Leadership Rules
Guidelines for Participating in Worship Leadership:
Each youth participant will lead an aspect of worship (listed below) in a public setting, such as a worship assembly, Bible class, small group, devotional, Vacation Bible School, camp/retreat, or some similar setting. The following criteria should be followed.
- Participants in grades 3-12 may register for the Worship Leadership event. There will be two standards of achievement for this event: grades 3-8 will form the first grouping, grades 9-12 a second grouping.
- A public setting is defined as any occasion that is regularly scheduled and where there is an audience. Random impromptu sessions orchestrated for the sole reason of giving a young person an opportunity to fulfill the requirements for this event are discouraged. The spirit of the Worship Leadership event is to encourage the participation of young people in the active services of the church. Special occasions like V.B.S., camps, retreats, etc. are valid occasions for awarding Worship Leadership participation.
- Participants cannot count activities used for the Bible reading Pre-Convention, Service Challenge/Ministry, or other events toward their participation in the Worship leadership event. These are unique events and requirements for each must be achieved separately.
- Using the Worship Leadership Award Certification Form linked to this event, participants will keep a record of their activities with verification from an adult who was in attendance. A date and description for each service opportunity must be supplied on the form. This form must be submitted to the event coordinator by the Pre-Convention Events submission deadline.
- Eligible activities for recognition include: leading prayer, song leading, reading Scripture, serving and/or preparing the Lord’s Supper, preaching/teaching, assisting with multimedia, and giving the welcome/announcements.
