General Guidelines for Convention Events

  • Participants must be registered by the registration deadline to qualify for participation in any Convention Event.
  • Registration corrections must be postmarked or completed online by the due date.
  • For team events, a team form (included in the church registration box) must be validated and brought to the event room at the time of the performance and given to the event director.
  • Unless specifically stated in the particular event rules, there are three grade categories in each event: Grades 3–5, Grades 6–8, and Grades 9–12.
  • A participant may move up to an older category, but an older participant may not move down to a younger category. If any team member is in the older category the team must participate at the older level.
  • Please note that moving participants to different age groups can result in schedule conflicts. It is the responsibility of the church coordinator to convey this information to the participants. Exceptions will not be made to accommodate scheduling conflicts.
  • A participant may only be in one event during a given time period.
  • Proper attire is expected of participants and spectators at all times during the convention. Attire must be clean and modest. Please consult the policy on clothing and appearance on the convention info page.
  • As a general rule, each congregation must provide judges for every event in which they have participants entered. However, certain event directors prefer ro recruite their own judges, because of the technicalities of their respective events. These events include Sign Language, Song Leading, and Puppetry. For information on the judging of events, please visit the judging events section on the respective event rules & forms page. Juding forms for each event are also available on the rules pages.
  • To make contact with the Event Director, click on his/her name posted on this rules page, or visit the contact us page.
  • Convention Event awards will be included in the Convention “Go Home” Packet.
  • All submitted materials become the property of LTCSW, which reserves the right to use the materials for promotion, instruction, or any other manner deemed appropriate by the LTCSW Board of Directors.
